Who we are. The Careerships Career Companion is provided by Careerships (careerships.com). For anything relating to your data, contact richard@careerships.com.

What we collect. Your email address, used solely to sign you in, and the career information you choose to enter in the app: your goal, objectives, job applications, outreach campaign progress, activity counts, assessment answers and Vision 2030 plans. We do not collect anything you do not type in yourself.

Why we collect it. To provide the app's features to you, and, where you are working with Careerships as a coaching client, to support your coaching. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Where it lives. Your data is stored securely with Supabase on servers in London, United Kingdom, and is protected so that only your signed-in account can read it. The app itself is delivered by Netlify. When you use Live Search, your search terms (role, location, industry; never your personal details) are sent to the JSearch service to fetch job listings. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which involves your browser requesting files from Google.

How long we keep it. For as long as you have an account. If you stop using the app, you can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights. Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email richard@careerships.com and we will action it promptly. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies and local storage. The app stores your sign-in session and a working copy of your data in your own browser so it loads quickly and works offline. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

AI processing. When you use the CV tools, Interview Intelligence, or JD Fit Check, relevant content (CV text, a LinkedIn profile, or a job description) is sent securely to Claude AI, provided by Anthropic. Anthropic does not use API data for AI training by default. Your CV is never stored by Careerships — it is read in your browser only. Live job searches send your role and location to JSearch, a job listings aggregator.

Advertised roles are a fraction of the market, but they still matter. Search efficiently here, then put the time you save into networking.

Search profile

Set this once. Live Search finds current roles across LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and other platforms without leaving the app.

Works like a Google search: fewer, concrete words beat many vague ones. Use quotes for exact phrases ("carbon markets") and OR to widen (fintech OR payments).

Your role title and location are sent to a job listings service (JSearch) to find live vacancies. No personal data is shared — only the search terms you enter above.

Application tracker

Track every live conversation, not just formal applications. A coffee with a hiring director counts.

Networking

Build relationships before you need them. Most opportunities at senior level come from people, not portals.

Outreach campaigns

One campaign per target role. Each follows the Careerships schedule: connect on day 1, message 1 after a week, message 2 three days later, message 3 with Richard's advice. The app tells you what is due and when, and everything you log counts towards your monthly activity.

Soft outreach prompts

Senior people respond to warmth and relevance, not requests. Adapt these openers to your own voice.

Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in five. Define where you are going, then work backwards.

How the Career Companion works

This app helps you run a proper job search — not just apply and hope. Most senior roles are filled through relationships before they are ever advertised. The app keeps both your applications and your conversations in one place, so nothing slips through.

1. Dashboard
Your home base. Start here every time you open the app. It shows your goal, what needs your attention today, and how your search is progressing. Set your goal first — everything else flows from that.
2. Job Search
Search live job listings across LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and more without leaving the app. Set your role, location and industry once — then search whenever you like. Interesting roles can be saved straight to your tracker.
3. Networking & Campaigns
This is where most senior roles are actually won. A campaign is a targeted outreach to a specific organisation — the app gives you a three-message playbook with the right timing built in. You can also run event-based campaigns after a conference or introduction. Track every conversation here.
4. Applications
Track every role you apply for. Rate how much you want it, log where you are in the process, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. Quality over quantity: three or four active pursuits beats a hundred random applications.
5. Goals & Activity
Set your yearly goal and three or four objectives. Log your monthly activity — connection requests, applications, conversations — against targets. Consistency beats intensity. The app nudges you if you fall behind.
6. Vision 2030 & Future-Proofing
Plan beyond the next job. Map where you want to be by 2030 and what it will take to get there. The Future-Proofing assessment scores your readiness for an AI-driven world and gives you a personal development plan. Takes about five minutes.

Upload your CV (PDF or Word) and tell us the role you're targeting. The tool reads your profile — your seniority level, function and key skills — then searches live vacancies and scores every result against your CV. Your top three matches get a full Careerships application guide: what to lead with, what to emphasise, and what to watch out for.
8. Interview Intelligence 🧠
Paste your interviewer's LinkedIn URL before you walk into the room. The tool runs a DISC personality analysis and gives you a tailored coaching brief.
