Privacy notice

Who we are. The Careerships Career Companion is provided by Careerships (careerships.com). For anything relating to your data, contact richard@careerships.com.

What we collect. Your email address, used solely to sign you in, and the career information you choose to enter in the app: your goal, objectives, job applications, outreach campaign progress, activity counts, assessment answers and Vision 2030 plans. We do not collect anything you do not type in yourself.

Why we collect it. To provide the app's features to you, and, where you are working with Careerships as a coaching client, to support your coaching. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Where it lives. Your data is stored securely with Supabase on servers in London, United Kingdom, and is protected so that only your signed-in account can read it. The app itself is delivered by Netlify. When you use Live Search, your search terms (role, location, industry; never your personal details) are sent to the JSearch service to fetch job listings. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which involves your browser requesting files from Google.

How long we keep it. For as long as you have an account. If you stop using the app, you can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights. Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email richard@careerships.com and we will action it promptly. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies and local storage. The app stores your sign-in session and a working copy of your data in your own browser so it loads quickly and works offline. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

This week's focus

Yearly objectives

Three or four meaningful objectives, each serving this year's goal. Review progress monthly.

This month's activity

The recommended monthly rhythm. Consistency beats intensity. Campaign actions count automatically; use Log activity for everything you do beyond the app, ideally at the end of each day.

Work with Careerships

Stuck on something specific, whether that is interview preparation, a salary negotiation or your long-term strategy? A focused session is often the fastest way through.

Job Search

Advertised roles are a fraction of the market, but they still matter. Search efficiently here, then put the time you save into networking.

Search profile

Set this once. Live Search finds current roles across LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and other platforms without leaving the app.

Application tracker

Track every live conversation, not just formal applications. A coffee with a hiring director counts.

Networking

Build relationships before you need them. Most opportunities at senior level come from people, not portals.

Outreach campaigns

One campaign per target role. Each follows the Careerships schedule: connect on day 1, message 1 after a week, message 2 three days later, message 3 with Richard's advice. The app tells you what is due and when, and everything you log counts towards your monthly activity.

Soft outreach prompts

Senior people respond to warmth and relevance, not requests. Adapt these openers to your own voice.

Vision 2030

Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in five. Define where you are going, then work backwards.

Where I am in 2030

The path back from 2030

Two or three deliberate moves usually separate today from the vision. For each one, be honest about the capabilities and relationships it needs; you build those before the move, not during it.

What this means for now

Future-Proofing Assessment

Careers are changing faster than at any point in living memory. This assessment looks five to ten years ahead, not just at your next role.

Your details

Your name signs off the campaign messages, so use the version you'd use on LinkedIn.

One sentence, specific enough that you would know if you achieved it. Your objectives below should all serve it.

Log activity

Add what you have done outside the app, for example connection requests sent across LinkedIn today. These add to this month's totals.

Monthly targets

The defaults are the recommended Careerships rhythm. Adjust with Richard if needed.
